New Wall Art

I found these wooden panels at the thrift store and painted over them to make something new.

I made the below, taking some ugly wall art apart and making this with some scrapbook paper and some paint.

Dollhouse

S made this house for her doll the other day.

I particularly love this, the stem from some grapes. I asked what it was and she said, "A chandelier."

My 6 year old's recent creations

s is always making stuff -all day long pretty much. she finds stuff and makes it into something else. she's always cutting, pasting, and asking for pieces of tape. here's some of her recent creations.

the strange cat above made me laugh. i particularly enjoy the skirt that goes all the way up the cat's tail. i also like that she cut the eyes out of something else and put it on here. and the dolphin in the middle is the finishing touch, isn't it?
s said if i didn't buy her a laptop (???) she would make one herself. most of her creations are two part as well. you can flip over the top paper from typing to a picture.

she made this blow fish in school. the part i like best is that if the fish sees a predator it lifts up the heart on top, and there is an eye that scares she predator away. i asked if her teacher told her to make it that way, but no, she said, it sounds like she thought of this herself.

what i like about doggie's flower hat is that sydney found my measuring tape and measured the right length to make it fit doggie's head right. smart girl! (i should follow her example and measure things instead of eye-balling it like i always do.)

s made this book yesterday after she discovered another loose tooth in her mouth. she made the entire thing unattended and on her own, with the exception of me cutting her papers straight and stapling at the end.

notice the money glued on.

"every book needs a title page," she said.

'while i was doing my school work at home (true story) my tooth was loose!!!'

'i brush every day' (notice her reflection in the bathroom mirror.)

'i went to bed. i asked when is my tooth coming out?' my mom said 'soon.'

'and i think about it right now.' lol! so cute!

'the end'

back cover: tooth in tooth fairy's basket.
her creations keep me really entertained. in fact right now she asked for a paper towel to make her dog a carpet that her "doggie walks on to get to his bed"- which she just made: a paper plate with some fabric glued on. she is so funny!

my recent creations

i know, another blog???!!! i was sick of taking my photos from my downstairs laptop to my upstairs computer, compressing each one, and re-emailing just so i could show them to mom. so i decided to throw them all on here. just for my mom and my sisters eyes only!

i made the above to hold my earrings/ be some art on my bathroom walls. cute huh? (i wish there was better lighting to show how it really looks.)

i didn't make this jewelry but i did buy it for a bargain! my friend went back to visit her family in st. louis where they have a dollar store that sells this awesome jewelry. so she got me all this for $20!

i made the wall art on the right myself.... i also made the little tree and birdies to the left.

i've been making bracelets out of thrift store ties.

I painted this red on my wall a long time ago but i just barely put this ribbon around it to make a frame.

i just painted this yellow on the top of the entertainment center. i just bought the yellow vase from the thrift store. and i painted yellow dots on the flower sculpture thing (it holds votive candles.)

are we noticing a recent obsession with yellow? i got this bench and another one for $15 total at a garage sale recently. so i painted it yellow and put it in front of my house.

i made her hair clip out of felt. i can't do the fancy cool ones nikki makes, but i've made a couple of these.

i found another use for the yellow paint. i had some strange creative urge one day to paint on my walls again. i made the art from cardboard and a shirt that never fit me right.

another bracelet out of a tie.

i made this cute caterpillar for my friend's baby. really cute and easy! it somehow got to climbing up in my tree. here is the tutorial. p.s. i am totally obsessed with this blog! it has some easy stuff even i can do! http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/2010/05/toy-caterpillar-tutorial-with-pattern.html

i was so proud of myself for learning how to make a ruffle and putting it on the bottom of my dress that was a little too short.

a skirt i made from a shirt i got from the thrift store that i loved but was way to big for me. i also used some of this fabric in the wall art at the top of the page.

i made syd's long sleeve into a short sleeve shirt.

another shirt i made from a long sleeve.

another shirt made for sydney, converted from a long sleeve.

tie onsesies i made for clark.

another hair "bow."
